A tiny kitten played a major role in a man’s marriage proposal the day before Thanksgiving in New York.

Jerad Forsyth met girlfriend Kat Woodley on a blind date on Thanksgiving Day 2014. Two years later, he was ready to pop the question and decided to pop the question with the help of a kitten the couple were adopting at the SPCA in Erie County.

Gandalf the kitten was fitted with a tag that read, “Will you marry me?” Woodley thought she was being filmed for an adoption video, but instead SPCA staff asked her to check the kitten’s tag and then Forsyth emerged to formally propose.

Woodley said yes.

Gandalf is doing great in his new home, according to Woodley.
