Spagnola made the surprising comment at her birthday party, held at the Golden Living East Mountain Center. She celebrated with cake and gifts, and appeared to enjoy the festivities.

Spagnola is not the first centenarian to make such a revelation. In 2013, silive profiled a 101-year-old Staten Island woman who had a daily alcohol regimen that included two glasses of wine for lunch, an afternoon glass of Southern Comfort and an evening beer. The woman's son said she awakened at 5 a.m. daily, and insisted on making the beds and coffee.
