The infamous singer, born Robert Kelly, made the payment during a court hearing in Chicago last week, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. The $62,499.70 check covers the months of March, April and May for the three children he shares with Andrea Kelly, who he was married to for 13 years.

During his court appearance, the artist was informed he owes an additional $32,000 in interest on child support, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. He also learned Andrea Kelly is requesting extra funds to cover one of their child's secondary education expenses.

Last week's child support hearing was the first public one since 2013, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. It's something Andrea Kelly's lawyer, Alison Motta, pushed for in an attempt to pressure R. Kelly to make his payments.

“This is a victory for my children,” Andrea Kelly told reporters after the hearing. “I will fight for my children till the end.”

R. Kelly has been facing financial struggles for months.

In February, he posted a $100,000 bail after being charged with 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse. He has pleaded not guilty and denied any wrongdoing.

About a month later, he owed $160,000 in child support. The child support and bond payments were reportedly made with the help of a friend.

Additionally, Kelly was reportedly sued by the landlord of his Chicago studio, because he hadn’t paid $200,000 in back rent. The landlord won the case, and $173,000 was seized from some of Kelly’s various accounts. Subpoenas were also issued to Sony, Kelly’s former record label, as well as the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers to help obtain the rest of the money.

Last month, Kelly made an appearance at an Illinois club, where he reportedly pocketed $22,000.
