It’s Monday, Atlanta. Do you know where your zing went?
We know, it’s hard. Summer is but a distant memory now, and the eat, drink and be merry days of November and December feel like they’re still months away.
(Actually, they are still months away. But cancel that negative thought!)
You just think your get up and go has gone up and went. Because there are enough fun things to do in and around Atlanta this Monday that prove otherwise. Here are a trio of events, at least one of which should tickle your fancy.
“MAGIC MONDAY: CARNIVAL!”
The latest installment in the fun and enlightening series of Magic Mondays aimed at pre-schoolers and toddlers, this one lives up to its carnival theme. There'll be games, like sack races and "giant bowling;" a parade, exhibition of carnival masks and a dance party where pint-sized participants will learn to learn to "roar like a lion and prance like circus horses." 10 a.m.-1 p.m. $5.50-$6.50. ‘MOVING TO ABSTRACTION”
In what sounds like an exercise that's as much about what goes on the canvas as what goes on in the artist's creative brain, this is a one-day workshop where students complete an abstract version of photos provided by the instructor (Maureen Engle). You can choose to paint in acrylic or oil, but a heads up from the course description: "You will be working fast - no time for lots of details!" Bring a medium/large square canvas and painting supplies, including your largest brushes, and a sack lunch. All levels are welcome. 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. $145. “PING PONG TOURNAMENT AT CHURCH”
