Rapper Quavo becomes Lids brand ambassador

Quavo’s announcement came six months after Meek Mill became the co-owner of the company

Migos Music Facts Migos' original group name was Polo Club. They inspired a limited-edition Popeyes Chicken menu delivered by Uber Eats. Takeoff, Offset and Quavo have all had solo success. Offset is married to fellow rapper Cardi B. In 2018, they broke their own record for the most simultaneous hits on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop songs chart.

Quavo continues his foray outside of music and now he can add brand ambassador to his resume.

More specifically, the Migos member, whose real name is Quavious Marshall, is now an ambassador for Lids.

"I grew up going to Lids. I grew up shopping at Lids, you know what I'm saying?" he told Business Insider after announcing the news. "Lids has been around for more than 20 years. I'm 28. Most definitely one of the biggest with the caps, with the hats, with the lids, with everything. Right now, hats have made this run back. Back then, it was snapbacks, then it was fitteds, and then it was snapbacks again. And right now, in this time, like 2019, 2018, 2020, I think the fitted caps are making a comeback, and I just feel like it's the right time to link with Lids."

Quavo's partnership comes six months after fellow rapper Meek Mill announced he'd invested in the sports apparel brand to become a co-owner. Meek Mill told the publication he wanted to "bring the culture" to Lids. Quavo said he feels "like I bring the culture to Lids. Meek, to me, brings the streets to Lids. He brings resilience to Lids. He brings REFORM to Lids."

The Migos star added that he can bring the idea that there are other paths to success.

“I feel like I'm bringing opportunities that's been closed, that's then been reopened and cracked open,” he said.

And while Quavo explained he was initially into sports growing up in Lawrenceville, he said his life decisions steered him toward rapping.

Still, he’s using his sports ties to inform his new Lids hat line.

“I'm bringing my integration with sports to the hat,” he said. “I'm bringing knowing what athletes like, knowing what rappers like, to the hat. That's what I'm bring to my cap.”

But Quavo has his sights set on other things aside from apparel and music, more of which is on the way from Migos next year. The rapper recently disclosed he viewed a cut of his first horror film, “The Resort.” Quavo told fans that the project, which he produced with Double Down Pictures, is “coming soon.”
