Angry fans took to social media to vent after musician Lauryn Hill showed up two hours late for her Atlanta concert.
Hill has a reputation for being late, but Friday night’s incident was extreme.
By the time Lauryn Hill took the stage around 10:20 p.m. ET, commenting on how nice the venue was, the crowd was booing. The singer never acknowledged her late arrival during the show. In a video taken after the concert that has surfaced on Twitter, Hill seemed to place the blame on her driver.
“My driver got lost, I can’t control that,” she said.
Hill's microphone was turned off just 40 minutes into her set because of Chastain Park Amphitheatre's strict curfew.
The singer continued to perform for a few minutes longer, despite the fact that the crowd’s booing was far more audible than her singing. Finally, she turned to the side of the stage, flashed her hands repetitively as if she was asking the crew for 10 more minutes.
It didn’t work.
Eventually, Hill gave up and took a few pictures with fans as people started to head towards the nearest exit.
The show reviews on social media were not favorable.
