Opus the penguin and the world of "Bloom County" are back after a 25-year break.
"Bloom Country's" creator, Berkeley Breathed, said in an email, that with what's going on in the country, now is the perfect time to return, The Associated Press reported.
Breathed posted the first strip in a quartercentury on Monday. The strip shows Opus waking up after a 25-year nap. In a little more than a day, the post has had more than 54,000 shares.
Breathed hinted at the return in a post on Sunday, with a photo which showed him working on his computer.
According to National Public Radio, Breathed won a Pulitzer prize for "Bloom County" in 1987. Two years later, he stopped creating the comic strip.
The comic strip will be seen only on Facebook and will be seen on a "reasonably regular" basis. Breathed said that he "will draw because it's fun," AP reported.
