Lori Loughlin, the actress best-known for her role on "Full House," was charged in a college cheating scheme alongside at least 40 other people. She is charged with conspiracy to commit mail fraud and wire fraud.
Loughlin and fellow actress Felicity Huffman were among several affluent parents, who were involved in allegedly paying money to alter college testing and admissions to get several unqualified students in elite schools like Wake Forest and Yale universities.
On Twitter, the reactions ran hot and fast. Most poked fun at her squeaky clean role as Aunt Becky in the 1990s hit “Full House” and the sequel “Fuller House” First, there were the jokes:

I get that Lori Loughlin / Aunt Becky is trending because of the college scam she was in on, but we need to talk about the REAL story. Her many TV movies as Jen, garage sale and antiques expert, who finds herself in the middle of many garage-sale related murder plots. pic.twitter.com/MimLB7ckII

Per court docs, Lori Loughlin and husband wanted fixer to get daughter into school "other than Arizona State" (aka USC) ... I guess ASU looks pretty good about now

Then, the people who seriously tackled the issue.
Imagine being William H. Macy, Felicity Huffman or Lori Loughlin, multimillionaires with vast networks of resources for your kid that are effective and legal, and you still feel the need to cheat the system to get your kid into college.

Zero sympathy here. None.
This right here. I always say as long as we have a separate and unequal system of education there is no meritocracy in college admissions. But @ClintSmithIII rightfully goes even further. Even families who have every single advantage are determined to buy their way into more. https://t.co/IaWFncEr91

great to see this issue highlighted but I don’t want people to think it’s illegal or even frowned upon to buy rich kids’ way into college. This was a specific scheme with illegal aspects but (as you know) wealthy parents openly buy admissions into Ivy League schools on the reg
