This week, the High Museum celebrates the 20th anniversary of its largest fundraiser, the Atlanta Wine Auction. Over the years the event has generated more than $19 million to benefit the museum's exhibition and educational programming.

High officials say the auction is the country's biggest charity wine auction benefiting the arts.

“This year will be a very special celebration," said Cate Candler Singerman, the auction's manager. “We look forward to great bidding on spectacular auction lots to ensure another successful wine auction.”

Among the more than 70 lots up for auction: a rare 3L bottle of ZD Abacus XIII, a premium Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon; four nights for six at Terra Valentine with a private tour and tasting along with a six-course wine dinner; and a weekend for six on Prichard Hill in Napa Valley with wine to keep.

The Atlanta Wine Auction is actually several days of events, beginning with a series of dinners on Wednesday and Thursday, tasting seminars and a party for benefactors and winemakers on Friday. It concludes on Saturday with the vintners' reception and live auction held inside tents at Atlantic Station.

The auction and other events during the week typically feature guests from the wine and culinary world. This year's roster includes Jim Clendenen from Au Bon Climat, Robert Bower from Fladgate Partnership, Miguel Torres Jr. from Torres and David Fischer from Ramey Wine Cellars, with guest chefs Ben and Karen Barker from the Magnolia Grill in Durham, N.C.; Gerry Klaskala from Aria; Anne Quatrano from Bacchanalia, the Floataway Café, Star Provisions, Quinones and Abattoir; and Frank Stitt from Highlands Bar and Grill in Birmingham.

"We are honored to welcome such esteemed special guests, some of whom have been longtime friends of the auction," Singerman said.
