A Pennsylvania firm that performs material testing services for aerospace companies, automakers and other industries will open a new lab in Bryan County near the Georgia coast, state and company officials said Tuesday.

West Penn Testing Group said it will invest $3 million and create 70 jobs over the next five years as part of the new testing center. The facility is expected to open in the Interstate Centre industrial park in Ellabell, about 25 miles west of downtown Savannah, by the end of this year.

West Penn conducts independent chemical and material tests of various metals and alloys. It also operates facilities in Pennsylvania and South Carolina, according to a news release.
