Georgia Power has wrestled with delays and increased construction expenses in its nuclear expansion underway at Plant Vogtle.

This week, staff of the state’s Public Service Commission files comments on progress at the $14-billion-plus project, which would add enough capacity to energize another 500,000 homes.

Georgia Power and its parent, Southern Co., gave their own update to the PSC recently, suggesting better progress and improved relations with the project’s contractor.

Georgians already are paying for the expansion’s finance costs as an extra fee added to monthly bills from Georgia Power.
