Atlanta is one of the best cities in the nation to find a job right now. At least, that's what Monster.com found after analyzing which cities are posting the most jobs on its site.

In fact, Monster has a recent blog entry called 100 companies making big hires in May, and a majority are headquartered or have offices in Atlanta or Georgia. For example, Aflac, a supplemental insurance provider headquartered in Columbus, tops the lists with almost 1900 openings. UPS, another large Atlanta-based company, also cracked the top 15.

Monster has promising news, too, for high school and college graduates, who will grab their diplomas in May and march into the world of job applications and interviews. The website, with data from WANTED Analytics, places Uber, FedEx, Randstad and Kaiser Permanente on a list of 50 companies that are making entry-level hires.

However, take note: Most corporations require candidates to pass a drug screening, and employers across the country say that's become a challenge in recent years. According to the New York Times, Gov. Nathan Deal in August announced plans to develop a pilot program to help prospective job candidates with their drug use, because business owners kept telling him the No. 1 reason "they can't hire enough workers is they can't find enough people to pass a drug test."

Deal, however, said the idea was in its infancy; the details are still being worked out and final plans would likely need approval from the federal Department of Labor, as well as state lawmakers. But the goal would be to create a program which would allow those who test positive a chance to get help for their addiction.

"Obviously, it's not an easy process, and it would be costly," said Mark Butler, state labor commissioner, according to the Times. "But you've got to think: What is the reverse of that? People needed to fill jobs are turned away. It's pretty much a national issue."
