“Bearing Witness to the Suffering of Others,” a conference on end-of-life care, will be hosted by Mercer University’s Georgia Baptist College of Nursing. The event will be in the Trustees Dining Room on the University’s Atlanta campus from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The conference will feature presentations by Dr. Betty Ferrell, one of the leading experts in palliative care nursing. “Knowledge is Power,” Piedmont Fayette Hospital’s fifth annual med-surg conference, will be from 7 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. at Glendalough Manor (200 Glendalough Court) in Tyrone. “Advancing the Possibilities: Nursing in the 21st Century,” the third annual oncology nursing symposium presented by the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, will be at Evergreen Marriott Conference Resort at Stone Mountain Park. The event will focus on current trends in oncology nursing clinical practice and research. The hours are 5:30 to 9 p.m. on March 18 and 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 19. The course offers 8.5 contact hours through Emory Healthcare. Registration, which includes dinner Friday and breakfast and lunch Saturday, is $195 and $45 for full-time nursing students. “Dissecting your Med Mal Cases: A Surgeon’s Perspective,” will be presented by the Atlanta chapter of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants. The lunch-and-learn session will be from noon to 2 p.m. at WellStar Development Center (2000 South Park Place) in Atlanta. Ronald I. Kaplan will present two cases and discuss how they evolved, the negligence issues and problems encountered in medical malpractice cases in general. The cost, which includes lunch and CEU credits, is $20 for members and $25 for guests.
