Jeff Dauler, the usually voluble wisecracker on Q100's Bert Show, had a reason to be somber this morning: on air, he announced his divorce with his wife Jessica after 12 years together.
He read this statement and said he won't be addressing it again on air:
Jessica has been my best friend since we met in Arizona over a dozen years ago, and she has been my wife for nearly a decade. This decision is not one that was reached easily.
Looking back, I can't help but be overwhelmed with incredible sadness at what we once had and lost. Looking forward, I believe that this decision is the best for both Jessica and myself, and that we will both be in better places as two individuals.
Despite my very public job on the radio, I am an extremely private person. I wanted you to hear this news from me rather than elsewhere.
Going forward, I won't be addressing any issues pertaining to our divorce on the show. I appreciate everyone's understanding of both the need and desire to maintain privacy.
I cannot thank my radio family enough for their patience, support, and understanding while I have been dealing with this. I am incredibly fortunate to work with a team so talented and gracious.
Obviously, there is no shortage of sadness happening right now. But my hope is to let this show be a place where I can set those feelings aside for several hours every day and just laugh and have fun. Thank you in advance for letting me do that.
The statement offers no details why the two have decided to end their marriage. It also doesn't address the future of the weekly Jessica Shops segment that has been airing for years on Q100.
Jessica Dauler also runs a weekly Jessica Shops column in the Atlanta Journal Constitution. I have left a message with Jessica by email and will update if she has her own comments to provide.
