Here are the second-to-last power ratings for this season. After Friday’s games, the power ratings will be posted on Tuesday and schools will have an opportunity to appeal their rating in writing. After appeals are processed, the ratings will be made official on Wednesday and the playoff brackets will be published. The Class A public and private school playoffs will begin Nov. 21, and conclude with the championship games in the Georgia Dome the weekend of Dec. 12-13.
Championships in Regions 3, 6, 7 and 8 will be decided on Friday. Regions 3 (Calvary Day - Emanuel County Institute), 6 (Mt. Paran - Mt. -- Thanks to "CheerTigerDad" for pointing out a significant oversight. Mitchell County's 12-8 win over Calhoun County gave the Eagles the Region 1 title and a spot in the top four in the public school power ratings. Mitchell County currently sits at No. 20, which means when the final ratings are announced, a team currently in the top 16 will be out of the playoffs.
-- Atkinson County played Irwin County as tight as any team this season, losing 21-14, but the loss dropped the Rebels three spots to No. 16. Atkinson County is attempting to make the state playoffs for the first time since 2007.
-- Wins by Dooly County, Greenville and Telfair County lifted each two spots in the ratings.
