Commuters will lose more of a lane around the I-75/I-285 Interchange as construction on the Northwest Corridor express lane project continues.
Drivers traveling eastbound to get onto I-285 East in Cobb County will face construction Tuesday night starting at 9 p.m. and continuing until 5 a.m. Wednesday, according to GDOT. Workers are merging two key lanes that lead to I-285 into one lane before the Cumberland Road overpass, GDOT says.
More from GDOT:
Immediately east of the I-75 overpass, the two existing I-285 Eastbound Collector Distributor lanes will merge into one lane of through traffic. Motorists should be aware and prepared to merge earlier when traveling to I-285 Eastbound.
The "permanent" change is scheduled to be completed by Wednesday morning.
The construction is part of the Northwest Corridor project, two express toll lanes that will run along I-75 and I-575 in Cobb and Cherokee counties, according to recent coverage by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The lanes will be be 30 miles long and the toll will be variable, depending on traffic. The project is scheduled to be completed by 2018.
