Check out the signs.

Most people do not have complete control over the way produce is grown, so they trust those little circles and squares that read "certified organic" or "organically grown" or "guaranteed organic" on food products at grocery stores. At farmers markets, some people seek out both organic foods and local, because, with the latter, they have an opportunity to talk to the farmer about his or her sustainability practices. Sometimes, said farmer will even offer a visit to the farm. In a way, it's an opportunity to know a farmer a little better. (Kind of like getting to know your chef better with the 3 questions with profiles.)

All of this brings me today's poll: Which is more important to you—organic or local foods?

Vote in the poll and share your thoughts in the comments section. Poll results will post in two weeks so get to voting or sharing on social.
