Get the scoop: Cool down during the tenth annual Ice Cream Social featuring old-fashion churned ice cream crafted by renowned local chefs and ambitious amateurs beginning at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 11 at The Cathedral of St. Philip. The event will be presented by Slow Food Atlanta and tickets are $5 - $20.

Anniversary party: To celebrate its second anniversary, Smokebelly BBQ will host a party with free servings of a whole hog roast beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 11. Arrive early; porky pickings will be until supplies last. Guests can also toast the occasion with $5 Tito's mule and well drinks or $3 drafts of Bud Light and Miller Lite.

Fire it up: Firefighters from downtown Atlanta stations are going head-to-head in a barbecue cook-off featuring their tastiest barbecue pork butt recipes; the best ones will be served from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, June 12 at Sway, the private dining room of the Hyatt Regency Atlanta. The winning team will win a vacation to any of Hyatt's properties and a donation in their station's name to Gold Shield Foundation of Metro Atlanta.
