Hartsfield-Jackson International is pursuing an idea to open game lounges -- places at the airport where travelers, including children, could play on gaming consoles or computers to pass the time.
The airport is inviting businesses to submit proposals to provide and operate game lounges on Concourses E and T at the world's busiest airport.
In the game lounges, the airport says an area should be designated as a "Children's Zone" with games that are not violent or graphic.
Along with offering video games, the operator could also sell snack-food items, movie theater-type snacks or gaming items, according to airport documents.
It's not the first time the airport has pursued the idea of gaming lounges. In an earlier attempt, the airport in 2013 launched an effort to open interactive game lounges for "a gaming experience akin to that provided by Wii, Kinect, etc." with admission charges or fees to play games, along with a free nursing station and children's play area.
