All northbound lanes of I-285 were shut down past Hollowell Parkway while authorities worked to upright a tractor-trailer that overturned on the interstate Tuesday morning.

Only minor injuries were reported in a crash Tuesday morning involving a passenger car and a tractor-trailer that overturned and caused major traffic delays on I-285 North in Fulton County, officials said.

The big rig was traveling in the left lane around 8:30 a.m. when it tried to change lanes and struck a passenger car that was in the next lane over, according to a Georgia State Patrol statement.

When the two vehicles made contact, the tractor-trailer overturned on its driver’s side, the statement reads. It blocked all lanes on I-285 North near exit 12 for Hollowell Parkway.

Everyone involved refused medical treatment, the GSP said.

The big rig was lying horizontally across all of the lanes, Georgia Department of Transportation traffic cameras showed. By 10 a.m., emergency personnel had moved it to the far right lanes, and traffic slowly began to recover.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, who was not identified, is being charged with improper lane change and a violation of driving in the left lane.
