Noel Goggin, CEO of Aptos
A software firm that helps retailers manage their business and connect digitally with customers has picked Atlanta for its new corporate headquarters.
The company, Aptos, will base about 90 Atlanta area employees in Buckhead. The company was previously known as Epicor Retail Solutions, a subsidiary of Montreal-based Epicor Software.
The firm spun out of Epicor Software earlier this year and is now held by Apax Partners, a global private equity company. Aptos has offices in Ohio, New York and Montreal.
Aptos has added about 20 workers in metro Atlanta in the past six months and plans to hire new software developers, trainers and other customer service, sales and marketing personnel, said Aptos CEO Noel Goggin.
Aptos in the past year has acquired two Atlanta area software companies: ShopVisible, an e-commerce company, and retail analytics firm Quantisense. The new Buckhead office will merge the operations into one location, Goggin said.
Aptos has more than 500 customers, including well-known brands like Under Armor and Michael Kors. Its customers do business in 48 countries.
Retail is changing and merchants want to engage with clients across digital platforms and also convert massive amounts of analytics into profit-making or expense-saving resources.
“We want to truly engage customers differently,” Goggin said in an interview. “To do that we wanted to have more of a pioneering spirit, more entrepreneurial spirit. Atlanta, for us, really matches our culture.”
Aptos picked Atlanta for its technology and executive retail talent, he said. Goggin cited Georgia Tech, transactions technology company NCR, top retailers like Carter’s and Home Depot and the global connections offered by Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport as reasons to pick the city.
The company’s workers in the Cumberland area and elsewhere in the region will move to new space at Resurgens Plaza near Lenox Square later this year.
