The Atlanta Police Department is looking to hire 300 officers by the end of the year and will hold more than a dozen career fairs to attract candidates.

Atlanta Polcie spokeswoman Elizabeth Espy said candidates do not have to be residents of the city, but they do have to be U.S. or naturalized citizens.

The new recruits will join just under 2,000 officers currently on the force, the largest police force in the state.

Starting salary for recruits with a bachelor’s degree is $42,128.71. Benefits include health, dental and life insurance.

The upcoming career fairs will be held at the APD’s Public Safety Headquarters building, 226 Peachtree St, SW, 2nd Floor, in Atlanta. Here are the dates and times:

• Monday, Feb. 2 at 8 a.m.

• Friday, Feb. 6 at 8 a.m.

• Monday, Feb 9 at 8 a.m.

• Friday, Feb. 13 at 8 a.m.

• Saturday, Feb. 14 at 9 a.m.

• Friday, Feb. 20 at 8 a.m.

• Monday, Feb. 23 at 8 a.m.

• Friday, Feb. 27 at 8 a.m.

• Saturday, Feb. 28 at 9 a.m.
