A U.S. dollar buys more in Georgia than some U.S. states.

If you’ve traveled around the U.S. a bit, you know that the burger that costs you a buck in Mississippi might cost you $1.25 in Washington, D.C.

The Tax Foundation looked at costs state-to-state to figure out how much a dollar is worth, comparatively, in the U.S. Not surprisingly, states where a dollar is “worth” only about 85 cents are Washington, New York and Hawaii.

On the other hand, you can buy about $1.16 worth of something for a single greenback in our neighboring state of Alabama.

In Georgia, on average, you can buy nearly $1.09 worth of something for a buck.
