Actor Rob Schneider, best known as a stalwart of the Adam Sandler film catalogue and for his time on “Saturday Night Live,” dropped his two cents on the ongoing public debate between President-elect Donald Trump and Rep. John Lewis (D-GA).

To summarize: Lewis said Trump was an illegitimate president. Trump said Lewis was an all-talk politician. Atlanta got mad.

Republicans ripped Lewis for making improper comments on the president-elect, while Democrats ripped Trump for criticizing one of the last leaders of the Civil Rights Movement, who quite literally bled for his country, ahead of Martin Luther King Jr. day.

On Monday, Rob Schneider joined the debate.

The response was swift.

"Rob Schneider lecturing @repjohnlewis is the most embarrassing thing he's ever done. Yes, this includes 'The Animal,'" actor Will Wheaton wrote.

"Lord, give me the confidence of a mediocre white man who tries to lecture a civil rights hero about MLK," another Twitter user chimed in.

Rob Schneider later posted a quote from Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) in an effort to remind followers to respect both sides of the aisle.

…Now is a good time to love your countrymen and countrywomen.
