Get ready for a wet, chilly Monday morning, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz.

“The rain is going to hold off until this evening in particular, until overnight tonight as a cold front sweeps through,” Nitz said Sunday evening. “So in the overnight hours, passing showers and even some thunderstorms with some heavy downpours will make for wet roads for your Monday morning commute,” he said.

However, Monday will get drier as the day goes on, said Nitz. “By 7 a.m. the heaviest rain will have moved out, but the roads will be wet and we’ll have a few scattered showers.”

The wet weather Monday will give way to a beautiful Tuesday as the sunshine returns, Nitz said.

Sunday’s cloudy but dry weather was good news for participants in the 42nd annual Atlanta Pride Festival, which began at 10 a.m. Saturday at Piedmont Park and continues through 7 p.m. Sunday. The festival parade stepped off from the Civic Center MARTA station at 1 p.m. Sunday, and marched north on Peachtree Street to 10th Street, then east on 10th to Piedmont Park.

The weather also made for a pleasant time at the Falcons-Raiders game, which began at 1 p.m. at the Georgia Dome.
