Confession: I am a Stitch Fix superfan.

I've been using the San Francisco-based online clothing subscription service for over two years.

If you're not familiar with the service, Stitch Fix sends five clothing or accessory items hand-picked by an online stylist to your door. You fill out an online style profile to help the stylist find clothing (or purses, or jewelry or shoes) that fit your style, size and budget.

Most women - me included - say they like the service for its convenience and the luxury of having a "personal stylist." Who has time to wade through clothing racks at the mall these days?

By the way, it's only available for women now but the company tells me a men's version is coming this fall.

I'm certainly not alone in my obsession with the service: Stitch Fix has had explosive growth since it launched in 2011, and now employs over 4,000 people, with distribution centers sprinkled throughout the country.

For the American-Statesman's Austin360 section I explored why Stitch Fix is so popular.

You can read about how my interview went with my own personal stylist, the story of how Stitch Fix was founded and its lofty goals for revolutionizing the retail industry, and my experiences trying other similar services.

Oh, and there is a video of me "unboxing" a Stitch Fix shipment:

Are you a Stitch Fix fan? Why or why not? I'd love to hear your thoughts. You can tweet me at @LillyRockwell or email me at lrockwell@statesman.com.
