A new scam has entered your Facebook newsfeed, and it's one that you should avoid at all costs.
According to CBS News, scammers are releasing websites in anticipation of the possibility of a "dislike" button being added to Facebook. This comes off the heels of news from Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg where he teased "a new button to let people express, in a single click, some sentiment other than 'like.'"
Hackread adds that pages have popped up asking users to learn about the features of this new button and brings them to a site that resembles something Facebook would launch. From there, users are instructed to share the page and then send it out amongst their friends. By doing this, Naked Security warns, it will give the scammers your personal information. According to the site, clicking on these links will bring you to scam website, "neither of which had anything to do with Facebook or a dislike button and both of which wanted us to sign up by giving away personal information."
The major red flag, according to CBS News: There is no dislike button and there never will be.
CBS News adds that Zuckerberg and the company’s plan is to rephrase “dislike” so that people can show some empathy if a friend on their page shares bad or disappointing news. Zuckerberg added that finding the right choice for this button is “surprisingly complicated.”
