ClearDATA, a health care cloud services and software company, said Wednesday it is moving its headquarters from Tempe, Arizona, to Austin.
In an announcement issued through the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce, the company said it was going to have a total of 100 jobs in the Austin area, 80 of which will be new jobs. The company is not receiving any economic incentives to come to Austin, the chamber said.
“ClearDATA chose Austin for its new headquarters because of its central location, reputation for top technology talent and vibrant, affordable live/work environment,” said James Windrow, a senior vice president at ClearDATA, in an email to the American-Statesman.
ClearDATA provides cloud computing services to health care companies, helping them store and protect patient data and other applications.
The Phoenix Business Journal reported in May that the company has been on a growth tear, raising $25 million to expand its sales and marketing team. According to its website, the company has offices in Tempe, San Antonio and San Francisco. Windrow said the company will continue to have an office in Tempe.
“ClearDATA is entering the Austin market at a key time for our health care system,” said Phil Wilson, the chair of Opportunity Austin, the chamber’s economic development initiative. “With the convergence of technology, health care and innovation, they join a growing number of companies seeing the potential in the Austin region.”
This announcement comes at a time when, through various mergers and acquisitions, the number of companies headquartered in the Austin metro area has been shrinking. Home rental site HomeAway, for instance, is now part of Expedia, which is based in Seattle. Freescale Semiconductors was bought by NXP Semiconductors, which is headquartered in the Netherlands.
