Golden State coach Steve Kerr said the Warriors will meet in the fall to discuss if the Warriors will visit the White House in celebration of their 2017 NBA Finals win, ESPN reported on Friday.
In June, the Warriors addressed reports that they would skip the traditional White House visit saying that had not yet received an invitation or discussed the matter as a team.
ESPN reported on Friday the Warriors have yet to receive an invitation to the White House.
Because of close communitation between the White House and the National Basketball Association, it is believed an invitation will be extended if the Warriors decide to attend as a group.
"I've talked to a couple of them about it," Kerr told ESPN. "There are a lot of different dynamics to this and different viewpoints. We've got players from all over the world and all over the country, and they're going to have different perspectives, so I think it's important for us all to get in a room and hash it out and decide what we want to do.
"The league isn't going to tell us what to do. They know it's our decision and that, for me, really, it's the players' decision.
Kerr said the players are the ones who did all the work to win the championship, so they’ll be the ones who will make the decision.
Warriors' David West, Andre Iguodala, Kevin Durant and Steph Curry have all publically voiced opposition to attending the White House.
In an inverview with ESPN’s Chris Haynes in August, Durant said he does not want to attend the White House ceremony.
"I don't agree with what he agrees with, so my voice is going to be heard by not doing that," Durant said, according to ESPN. "That's just me personally, but if I know my guys well enough, they'll all agree with me."
Kerr has also voiced opposition of President Donald Trump last season when said Trump was a “blowhard” and that he was “ill-suited” for the presidency.
"Has anyone ever thought that Donald Trump was a great leader?" Kerr said, according to USA Today.
