Mississippi tight end Evan Ingram, who is from Powder Springs and played at Hillgrove High, is one of the top players at his position at the scouting combine.
Engram is the third rated tight end in the draft and NFLDraftScout.com projects him to be drafted in the second round.
Here’s what Engram had to say when he met with the combine media:
Q: What’s it take to stand out in this tight end class?
A: "The ability to do everything. It's so talented. It's pretty cool to be part of this class that's getting a lot of love and respect. To be mentioned as the best tight end class in a while, one of the best, it's pretty cool to be a part of."
Q: What’s the biggest strength in your game that other tight end don’t have or that you bring on a higher level?
A: "I would probably say my versatility. This class is so deep. All these guys bring a lot to the table. But for myself, just being able to do anything. Be split out, flexed out, get down field in the vertical game, and then have the tenacity to get in and get physical as well. I definitely see myself as a total package and definitely a threat down field in the vertical passing game."
Q: Do you take pride in route running?
A: "Oh yeah, definitely. I love getting the ball, and I've got to get open to get it. It's a craft, it's an art. There's a lot that goes into it."
Q: Have you talked to the Buccaneers?
A: "Yeah, I met with the tight ends coaches. A lot of great coaches here. Definitely hit it off really well with them."
Q: Thought about playing with Mike Evans and Jameis Winston?
A: "Yeah, definitely. That's a great team. They had a great team last year. They're definitely young and they're growing. I would love to be a part of that organization and playing with those guys."
