Kent Bazemore may be in a line for a movie role.
Or at least a cameo.
The Hawks forward makes no secret for his love of the Scot Harvath spy novel collection written by Brad Thor. In fact, his Twitter handle is Scot Harvath for the former Navy SEAL character in the series.
Recently, Thor tweeted: “We absolutely have to figure out a way to get @24Bazemore into the movie ...”
To which Bazemore responded: “Let me know!!!! That would be such an honor!!!”
According to Variety, Warner Bros. recently acquired feature rights to Thor’s book The Lions of Lucerne, the first in the Harvath series. Judging by Thor’s tweet, the project may be moving forward.
“We think that this could become something like the Jason Bourne franchise,” producer Bill Gerber told Variety at the time.
The Lions of Lucerne is set on the ski slopes outside Park City, Utah. Coincidentally, the Hawks are stayed in Park City before Friday’s game against the Jazz. In the book, terrorists kidnap the president, publicly demand $500 million and insist that an anti-fossil fuel proposal in Congress be killed.
Prior to Thor's near invitation, Bazemore spoke at length about his love of the series on the Just Not Sports podcast. When the subject of a possible movie was raised, Bazemore said, "I'm going to reach out to him and see if I can get a cameo or something."
Bazemore said in the interview that he listens to the series on audiobooks, mostly during the downtime of the NBA season such as the extensive travel.
“It’s good to have something to ready and know once you are finished there is another one coming up,” Bazemore said.
