In Monday's press briefing, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer announced the recipient of President Donald Trump's first-quarter salary.

Spicer told those gathered that Trump’s first-quarter salary would benefit “a government entity,” the National Park Service.

The donation of about $78,000 is in line with Trump's campaign promise to donate his salary. As president, Trump is entitled to a monthly salary of $33,333, according to NBC.

Spicer presented a check to a representative from the National Park Service, with Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke present. “It’s from Jan. 20, from noon-forward,” Spicer said.

Zinke then stepped to the podium to elaborate on his work.

“We have uncovered a lot of internal controls that weren’t there,” he said. “We’ve put policies forward.”

Zinke also announced that he planned to “pilot the first-ever dog-friendly Department of Interior. ‘Puppy Day’ is coming up,” he said.

He then took questions, defending his plans to open up National Park Service land to energy exploration by invoking the Boy Scouts of America’s “Leave No Trace” principle that mandates Scouts “pack out” what they “pack in” to a campsite or destination; it’s comparable to “Leave nothing but footprints.”
