Attention, Walmart shoppers. One Roswell store should consider changing its name to the Walmart Birthing Center after a mother delivered a baby just outside the front door Wednesday morning.

Malea Little, of Woodstock, knew she was in labor early Wednesday with her third baby, a boy. But she never imagined how fast baby Jalon would arrive.

“We were in route to the hospital, but I knew I wasn’t going to make it there,” Little said Thursday.

With the couple’s two children in the backseat, Little’s husband pulled into the parking lot of the Walmart on Mansell Road shortly after 5 a.m. The store doesn’t open until 6 a.m., but employees were already starting to arrive. Mike Little pulled up to the front of the store where there was the most light and called 911.

By then, Malea said she was already pushing. Baby Jalon wasn’t going to wait.

“He was just ready,” Malea said. “I closed my eyes and knew it was the final push.”

The baby was crying when paramedics arrived, but appeared to be fine, along with the new mom. Both were transported to Northside Hospital for evaluation. Jalon weighed in at 8 pounds, 5 ounces.

It wasn’t the delivery she planned on, but Malea said Jalon’s entrance to the world is one she’ll never forget.

“We all were here for it,” she said.

The family hopes to be released from the hospital Friday.
