A 59-year-old woman has died after falling approximately 40 feet from a zip line at the Lums Pond State Park in Delaware.

The accident happened at about 1:40 p.m. on the Go Ape Treetop Adventure attraction, according to police.

The woman, who has not been identified, was treated at the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.

In a statement, Go Ape said it was "deeply saddened by this tragic occurrence."

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends and in particular to those who were on the course with her at the time," the statement continued.

The investigation into the woman's death is ongoing.

Go Ape has 15 locations in 14 states.
