A woman attempting to rescue a bird tangled in a fishing line in a tree at Twin Lakes Park in Hempfield Township ended up needing to be rescued herself.

Renee Hanson said she was sitting at a bench in the park when she noticed the bird stuck in the wire.

She climbed the tree to try to free the bird and ended up getting stuck herself.

“They sent the fire department and police to get me out of the tree, and they cut the bird down and they freed it,” Hanson said.

Neither Hanson nor the bird suffered any injuries.
