A Florida man discovered an uninvited guest in his pool Thursday morning.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s office, the homeowner called authorities at 7:30 a.m. for assistance in removing a crocodile from his swimming pool.

The sheriff’s office enlisted the help of the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to remove the approximately 8-foot crocodile from the shallow end of the pool.

The crocodile was safely removed from the pool and returned to its natural habitat. When some Facebook commenters questioned the statement by the sheriff's office that the crocodile was returned to the ocean, the sheriff's office responded back and said they found a crocodile recently in the surf off of Key West. Other commenters claimed that the area is home to salt water crocodiles that live in nearby mangroves and canals.

Just last week, a shark was found in a condo swimming pool. The shark later died. It is believed that the shark was placed there as a prank.
