Atlanta police have charged 66-year-old Bobby Wynn with murder in a death of an inmate that occurred in the Fulton County Jail early Sunday.

The warrant was served in jail, “where Mr. Wynn remains,” police said Sunday afternoon in a statement.

Wynn was in jail after an arrest on July 31 on charges of battery and robbery, according to online records.

Police homicide units were called to the jail just after 6 a.m. Sunday “regarding a death at the jail,” according to the statement. Late in the afternoon, police said they had determined that a homicide had been committed and that Wynn had been charged with the crime.

The name of the person killed is being withheld until relatives can be notified, but a police spokesman confirmed Monday morning that the victim was another inmate. No other details were released.

“At this time the investigation is active and ongoing,” police officer John Chafee said.
