ORIGINAL STORY: Nearly a dozen Clayton County students, and one parent, could face disorderly conduct charges in connection with a fight Tuesday morning at Charles Drew High School in Riverdale.
Clayton County Public Schools spokeswoman Vicki Gavalas told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution the school remained on “soft lockdown through the lunch period to keep order.” The lockdown was lifted after the lunch period.
The fight began after school administrators attempted to resolve an off-campus dispute between two female students which, “spilled over into the school environment.”
“They tried to get the parents to help defuse that,” Gavalas said.
She said a woman, whose daughter is friends with one of the girls involved in the dispute, was on campus this morning and in the office when the fight started.
“That parent started the fight,” Gavalas said. “Not one of the parents of the two girls.”
Gavalas said everyone involved in the incident was taken to police headquarters for questioning.
“No one was sent to the hospital,” she said.
Drew High School is at 6237 Garden Walk Blvd.
