There will be two key contests in Atlanta on Thursday night: Clemson vs. Georgia Tech at Bobby Dodd Stadium, and the traffic before and after the game.

The 7:30 p.m. start comes after the height of the evening commute, Doug Turnbull of WSB Radio said. Still, expect the Downtown Connector to be the hardest-hit area, along with Northside Drive, North Avenue, 10th Street, Spring Street and any other key road near the stadium.

As of 3:30 p.m., downtown traffic volume was increasing with game traffic, the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center reported.

After the game, workers will be repaving the Downtown Connector, which will compound the traffic woes.

There is no real alternate, Turnbull said, so it would be smart to take MARTA to the game.
