1. Former Gov. Roy Barnes is the new lawyer for House Speaker David Ralston as he fights possible disbarment. The same day he hired Barnes, he also filed a petition suggesting a possible settlement as well as a potential punishment. [Read more]

2. The Georgia Department of Driver Services ordered the removal of an "Illegal Alien Hunting Permit" sticker from the cubicle of one of its investigators, it confirmed Wednesday.  "It is not an appropriate message and the sticker was immediately removed," a spokeswoman told the AJC. [Read more]

3. While responding to a 911 call about a dog left in a hot car on Tuesday, Roswell officers found a second dog left behind in another vehicle in the same parking lot. Both dogs are expected to be fine. Both owners were charged with cruelty to animals, police said. [Read more]

4. A heartbreaking photo shows teammates of 10-year-old Lane Rodgers lining his funeral route. Rodgers was killed in a freak accident during a tournament game Saturday night, when a large tree branch snapped by the wind fell and hit the back of his head, killing him instantly. [Read more]

6. Decatur Mayor Pro Tem Kecia Cunningham was arrested for DUI last week. "I am deeply embarrassed by this," she told the AJC. "... I accept responsibility for this, and the consequences, and I apologize for my actions." [Read more]
