Q: Cobb EMC settled a huge lawsuit in February. I haven’t seen anything regarding the end of it or the dispersal of funds to the affected customers.

A: Cobb Electric Membership Corporation expects to begin payments in July, it states on its settlement website (cobbemcsettlement.com). The $98 million settlement between Cobb EMC and more than 675,000 members and ex-members going back about 40 years was finalized on Feb. 25.
The lawsuit, which started in 2010, stated that Cobb EMC hadn’t paid dividends to those members, using that money for other purposes, “including naming rights of a performing arts center and the utility’s for-profit subsidiary businesses,” The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. The deadline for filing claims has passed, according to the company’s website, and any claims filed are subject to approval by the Counsel for Plaintiffs.
Q: I’ve been watching Karen Minton since she began. How old is she and how many children does she have?

A: Minton, a meteorologist for Channel 2 Action News, wouldn't disclose her age, but said people "always guess much younger" when they find out.
“I am old enough to remember when John Glenn went into space, when we landed on the moon and where I was and what I was doing the day President Kennedy was killed. Plus, the Doobie Brothers played at my high school graduation all-night party at Lodi (Calif.) High School!” Minton, who began her career in 1981 and joined WSB-TV in 1986, also said she has two grown daughters.
