Q: What is Rush Limbaugh’s educational background, and how did he break into the entertainment business?

A: Limbaugh is from Missouri and broke into radio while in his teens, working at local stations. He dropped out of Southeast Missouri State after one year and returned to radio as a disc jockey at WIXZ in McKeesport, Pa. Limbaugh was fired in 1974 and moved back to Missouri, where he continued to find work at radio stations before taking a job with the Kansas City Royals. KFBK in Sacramento, Calif., hired Limbaugh in 1984, and he began presenting political commentary on the air. In 1988, ABC Radio hired Limbaugh and he moved to New York to begin his national radio show. He had a TV show from 1992-96, but has focused on "The Rush Limbaugh Show," which is carried by radio stations in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Forbes reported Limbaugh made about $66 million from June 2012 to June 2013.

Q: What is the average rainfall total in Atlanta for the month of August? It seems like it’s been an above-average year for rainfall.

A: Atlanta had received 5.24 inches of rain in August through Aug. 28, and the 30-year monthly average for August is 3.9 inches for the entire month. Atlanta is 17.59 inches above the average for the year, WSB-TV meteorologist David Chandley told Q&A on the News in an email.
