Q: Will the SkyView Ferris wheel be a permanent fixture?

— Fred Costner, College Park

A: The owners of SkyView Atlanta don't have plans to leave the city. "Nothing in the world is permanent, but with that in mind, yes, we're here for the long haul," spokesman Jason Evans told Q&A on the News. "We've seen nothing in the first five months that would change that. We've had wonderful crowds and a great response. We wouldn't dream of going anywhere else." SkyView, a 200-foot Ferris wheel with 42 enclosed gondolas, opened near Centennial Olympic Park on July 16. SkyView Atlanta is owned by a private company that doesn't have plans to release ridership numbers or revenue. The Ferris wheel originally operated in Paris before moving to Bern, Switzerland, then to the United States. It was in Pensacola, Fla., before coming to Atlanta. Evans said "we've had crowds all summer, fall and winter" and that the owners are "thrilled at the response of the Atlanta community."

Q: I noticed there’s a new radio station at 98.9. From where does it broadcast?

— Rick Brewer, Smyrna

A: Scott Shannon's True Oldies Channel, a syndicated network out of New York, replaced 98.9/The Walk in August. True Oldies Channel fills a niche in the Atlanta market, which had been without an oldies channel since True Oldies/Atlanta's Greatest Hits switched formats in 2012, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. The signal is owned by Atlanta-based Cumulus.
