Q: What was resolution on high-dollar Buckhead condo towers’ unpaid water bill?
—Bradford Smith, Atlanta
A: Atlanta's Department of Watershed Management has repaired the meter at the Phoenix on Peachtree and has plans to schedule a meeting with the building's homeowners association regarding the results.
The city is considering billing the building for the unpaid amount, Watershed Management spokeswoman Lillian Govus told Q&A on the News in an email last week.
“So now we’re getting official reads on their consumption,” she wrote. “With two full cycles, our team can look at the consumption vs. what they were billed and have a better grasp on the difference.”
Channel 2 Action News reported in July that the building, which opened in 2001, had been improperly billed for water and sewage since that time.
The building owes “approximately $1 million without penalties and interest,” a condo owner said in accompanying article.
Govus wouldn’t confirm the amount, but told Channel 2 Action News in July: “It’s a significant amount of money.”

—Edward D. Anderson, Jr., Doraville
A: The steel used in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium was fabricated in the United States and Canada, a stadium spokeswoman told Q&A on the News in an email.
Mercedes-Benz Stadium will replace the Georgia Dome as the home of the Atlanta Falcons beginning in 2017.
