Q: With the demolition of the Georgia Dome coming up, where will Georgia State University play its football games? Will the school build its own stadium? If so, where?

—Lance DeLoach, Thomaston

A: Georgia State recently proposed turning Turner Field into a 30,000-seat football stadium, beginning in 2017.Georgia State would like a smaller stadium to help attract recruits and save on the potential costs of continuing to play in a larger stadium like the Georgia Dome, which has a capacity of 74,000, or the Falcons' new stadium.

The university is expected to pay $75,551.17 per home game to use the Georgia Dome this fall, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. Georgia State, which averaged 15,577 fans for its seven home games in 2013, wouldn’t be able to break ground on the project until 2017, after the Braves leave for their new stadium in Cobb County.

Q: I recently read that Ga. 400 at I-285 will be repaired. Are there any plans for I-20 west at I-285? The interchange is in need of repair.

—James Wright, Douglasville

A: The Georgia Department of Transportation is discussing how to "identify the best solution for this area (design wise)," GDOT spokeswoman Natalie Dale told Q&A on the News in an email. "We know that it is also an area in need of interchange improvements and (we) will work toward a future project which addresses commuter concerns."

The 400/285 interchange “is one of the most congested interchanges in our nation,” she wrote, adding, “I-285/400 was the No. 1 commitment of the Governor as well as the DOT in relation to congestion.”
