Q: When the NFL sends a team to Europe to play, do the players go in one plane? Do the coaches travel in that plane? How does the equipment get over there?

—Al Karnitz, Norcross

A: The players and coaches travel in the same plane when NFL teams play in London. Most of the equipment goes by plane, but some is sent in advance on a ship, an NFL spokesman told Q&A on the News in an email.

The NFL played three games at London’s Wembley Stadium this season, including the Atlanta Falcons against the Detroit Lions on Oct. 26. NFL games have been played in London since 2007 and the league envisions having a franchise in the city by 2022. “When we started (with the series in 2007), I reckoned it’d take 15 years to do it,” Mark Waller, the NFL’s executive vice president of international, told NFL.com. “That was what I expected, and we’re still on course. We’re at the midpoint now.”

Q: How many people were on the Ferguson grand jury and what was the racial and gender makeup?

—David Nugent, Canton

A: There were 12 people on the grand jury that voted not to indict Ferguson, Mo., police officer Darren Wilson in the Aug. 9 shooting death of Michael Brown. There were six white men, three white women, two black women and one black man. The grand jury reflected the racial makeup of St. Louis County, which is 68 percent white and 24 percent black, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. It's against the law for the county to release the names of the jurors.
