Q: I missed the DeKalb County shredding documents day. Is there a place you can regularly send documents to be shredded? And where can you recycle plastics 3-4 and higher?

—George Heineman, Atlanta

A: DeKalb County offers one shredding opportunity on America Recycles Day every November and doesn't have a public shredding facility, Amber Weaver with the county's Natural Resources Management Office told Q&A on the News in an email. Other groups sponsor public shredding events throughout the year and there are several shredding companies in metro Atlanta that offer residential shredding services. Shredded paper is accepted through DeKalb County's Sanitation Division's Curbside Recycling Program as long as it's in the appropriate blue bag, Weaver wrote. Plastics 1-7 are also are accepted free through the curbside recycling program. Residents in single-family homes or who are serviced by DeKalb County Sanitation, can sign up at www.dekalbrecycles.com. Drop-off locations can be found at www.earth911.org.

Q: Regarding the latest line (point spread) on football games, I understand that PK means there is no point spread and that the game is a pick. But can you explain to me what OFF means?

—Joan McClain, Dallas

A: OFF, or off the board, means that bookmakers will not accept action (take bets) on the game because of circumstances surrounding it. This often refers to injuries to significant players, extreme weather conditions, suspicion that the game might be fixed or other major issues that could have an impact on the outcome.
