Q: I read in the AJC that George Zimmerman was cited for domestic violence. How many times has he been arrested since the death of Trayvon Martin? It seems to me that he has real problems.
—Jean Stone, Doraville
A: Zimmerman has been arrested twice since his July 2013 acquittal in the murder of Trayvon Martin, both times for alleged domestic violence. Lake Mary, Fla., police arrested him on Jan. 9 on suspicion of aggravated assault and domestic violence with a weapon after he threw a bottle of wine at a girlfriend. The arrest happened several days after the alleged incident, his attorney said.
Zimmerman was arrested for aggravated assault and misdemeanor counts of domestic violence battery and criminal mischief in November 2013, after a fight with Samantha Scheibe, his girlfriend at that time. Prosecutors didn’t press charges after Scheibe said she wanted them dropped, even though Seminole County, Fla., police said he pointed a shotgun at her.
Q: In your Personal Journeys series, you followed the progress of Jason Massad. Was the cause of Jason’s fall from a balcony ever determined?
—Suzanne Sports, Peachtree City
A: Massad doesn't remember the details from the night of his fall in January 2013 and Misty Williams, Massad's fiancée and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporter who wrote the article, didn't see it happen, she told Q&A on the News in an email. Massad continues to recover from the four-story fall from the balcony of their apartment.
