Q: Can you tell me what is being done on Northside Drive between I-75 and Moores Mill Road?

—Elizabeth Ward, Atlanta

A: A 20-inch water main is being replaced in a project that also includes the installation of distribution mains, fire hydrants, pressure vaults and roadway improvements from I-75 to just north of the intersection with Northside Parkway. Changes to the roadway include converting the reversible lane into a two-way left turn lane, the addition to a right turn lane at Collier Road, extending sidewalks and adding wheelchair ramps at intersections.

The waterline and sewer improvements are expected to be finished this summer, but the roadwork is scheduled to continue until the summer of 2017. The Georgia DOT has said to expect lane closures and “increased commute times for the duration of the project.”

Q: When the Braves are in Florida for spring training, do they all stay in a central location in the Orlando area, or do they make their own lodging arrangements?

—Gary Owen, Stockbridge

A: The players arrange their own accommodations around the Orlando area for spring training. They are "spread over different communities," a team spokeswoman told Q&A on the News in an email.

The Braves are considering moving from their current spring training home at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports complex when their 20-year lease expires in 2017. Spring training ends April 4 and the Braves will open the season at Miami on April 6. They’ll play their home opener against the New York Mets on April 10.
