Q: I would like to send a note of thanks to President Obama and the first lady for all they have done these past eight years and for the dignity they showed in this era of incivility. Can you provide an address?

—Suzanne Sports, Peachtree City

A: You can send a letter to the White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20500; fill out the contact form at whitehouse.gov/contact; or call 202-456-1111.

You can also go to the White House’s Facebook page at

and click the message tab.

If you write, the White House suggests typing a letter on a standard size sheet of paper (8½ by 11 inches) and including your return and email addresses.

“These letters,” Obama states on whitehouse.gov, “do more to keep me in touch with what’s happening around the country than just about anything else.”

Q: In the recent movie “Eight Days a Week,” it states that the Beatles played 815 concerts in 90 cities around the world during their touring years. Did the Beatles ever do an encore, and, if not, why?

—Don White, Atlanta

A: The Beatles didn't perform encores during the "Beatlemania" years, from 1963 to their final concert at San Francisco's Candlestick Park in August 1966.

The band’s popularity was so great and their fans so excited that, for security reasons, the Beatles were often whisked from the stage and into a waiting vehicle after their final song.

The Beatles generally would play for only about 30 minutes those years.

Before they were so popular, they would perform in clubs for hours.
